6/1 Weekly Message

Good evening Riverside families, this is Principal Tonya Williams with your weekly message.

We recognize the civil unrest that is occurring in our nation and the impact that this unrest has on the emotional health of our students.  We want our students and families to know that we care and are here to support our families.  If any student needs a safe adult to speak with about their feelings and emotions, please reach out to our social worker, counselor, administrator, or any other faculty or staff member who you have identified as a safe adult.

Final grades will be visible in the PowerSchool Parent Portal tomorrow. Please view your child’s grades and contact your teachers, on or before June 4, if you would like to change your grading options.

Students with a grade of 59 or below were changed to WC19 (withdraw due to COVID-19); those with a 60-69 were changed to PC19 (passing due to COVID-19); and those with a 70 or above were kept as numeric.

After logging into the portal, you will be on the Grades and Attendance screen. Look in the column for F1.

If you prefer to have your numeric F1 grade switched to PC19, or your PC19 switched to numeric, then please contact your child’s teacher on or before June 4. If you do not have a Powerschool account, contact your child’s 2nd period teacher who will share instructions on how to set up the account and will provide you with a special access code, unique to your child. You can find additional instructions on setting up an account by going to www.dpsnc.net.

Thank you to the many families who have already dropped off textbooks, library books, instruments, and uniforms.  We will have two additional drop off dates, June 8th from 10:00am-12:00pm and June 10th from 5:00-7:00pm in the car circle.  Graduating seniors who have not picked up their cap & gowns and graduation placard can also pick up items during this time.

I recognize that a few students will need to pick up items from a classroom.  Students are asked to communicate directly with their teacher to schedule a time to pick up items.  If students need to clean out a locker, then they should arrive on Tuesday, June 9th from 10:00am-12:00pm.  Students will need to have a mask and their temperature will be taken prior to entering the school building.  If you have any specific questions or concerns, then please feel free to contact me directly.

In this difficult time, please remember that we are all a part of the same community.  Roll Pirates Roll!
