Good evening Riverside families, this is Principal Tonya Williams with your weekly message. I continue to send positive thoughts to all of you!
The end of the 3rd quarter was Friday, April 17th. Students have until this Friday to send their teachers any makeup work for the 3rd quarter. Grades will be finalized on Monday, April 27th. Students should contact their teachers if they are missing any assignments for the 3rd quarter.
Students should continue to complete assignments from teachers for the 4th quarter. When we have guidance on 4th quarter grading, I will share that information with you. If for any reason your child cannot complete assignments, then please reach out to their counselor or teacher. We know that some students and families are overwhelmed during this time. I want to remind families that your child’s safety and well-being is our top priority. While we are not certain we will have a formal graduation this school year, we will disperse caps and gowns on Monday, May 4 from 11:00 am-1:00 pm. This will be a no-contact delivery. Please see this flyer for more information.
Many colleges and universities are waiving test score requirements for Fall 2020, so there is still an opportunity for seniors who have not made a decision regarding college or university. Students should complete the FAFSA for financial aid purposes, as well.
I am asking all seniors to send me a photo with their post-secondary plans by Monday, April 27th. The photo can be in their college, military, or career gear. Alternatively, they can make a sign or create a background with this information. We want to celebrate National Decision Day with them on May 1st, so please encourage seniors to send me their pictures through email at tonya_williamsleathe@dpsnc.net or the Remind App.
The AP Exam schedule has been released. Please view this memo regarding the administration of these exams. If you have any questions, then feel free to reach out to your child’s AP teacher or the Testing Coordinator, Kara Robinson at kara_robinson@dpsnc.net.
